The 2027 Karma Gyesera is the latest evolution of the plug-in hybrid sedan that first arrived as the Fisker Karma way back in 2011, and it gets a revised powertrain and design as Karma Automotive aims to kick off a new era.
The Gyesera has the same dramatic proportions as its forebears, with a long hood and a curvaceous body, built around an evolution of the aluminum spaceframe chassis found in the Revero that it replaces.
The body is fashioned from a mix of aluminum and carbon fiber, helping keep the curb weight at just over 5000 pounds despite the Gyesera’s lengthy silhouette.
The Gyesera employs the fifth generation of Karma’s plug-in hybrid system, which uses a BMW turbocharged three-cylinder engine as a generator to maintain the charge of a 28-kWh battery.
That battery is hooked up to a pair of electric motors mounted on the rear axle, and the Gyesera produces 566 horsepower and 594 pound-feet of torque.
That’s 30 more horses and 44 more pound-feet than its predecessor, the Revero, allowing the Gyesera to hit 60 mph in a claimed 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph.
Karma says the battery provides an electric-only driving range of 80 miles; once the gas engine kicks off, range extends to 360 miles.
