Several are also nominees this year. Karol G is nominated across multiple categories, including album of the year for Tropicoqueta; Bad Gyal is up for best urban music album for Más Cara; and Luis Enrique, Grupo Niche and Nathy Peluso are nominated for best salsa album.
As announced in April, Daddy Yankee will be honored as the Latin Recording Academy’s person of the year.
The ceremony will also honor the late, great Willie Colón, the Nuyorican trombonist, singer, bandleader, composer, producer and arranger whose work helped shape salsa. Ennio Gatti, Colón’s former musical director and bandleader, will lead the original 13-member band for the tribute. Colón received The Latin Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 and helped bring the Latin Grammys to New York in 2006.
Previously announced performers for the 27th Annual Latin Grammy Awards include Anitta, Banda Los Recoditos, Camila Fernández, Carín León, Cristian Castro, Daddy Yankee, Elena Rose, Feid, Fonseca, Grupo Frontera, Jorge Drexler, Juanes, Kany García, Luis Figueroa, Milo J, Mon Laferte, Niña Pastori, Rawayana, Reik, Rosalía, Silvana Estrada, Sofía Reyes, The Warning, Vivir Quintana, Xavi and Yami Safdie.
The telecast will also feature a tribute to José Alfredo Jiménez, with Edgar Barrera — this year’s most nominated act — serving as musical producer. Roselyn Sánchez returns as host.
The awards air live from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on Nov. 12. The three-hour telecast begins at 8 p.m. ET on Univision, UNIMÁS, Galavisión and ViX, following a one-hour pre-show at 7 p.m. ET.
