XS at Wynn Las Vegas has been a nightlife institution on the Strip since it opened 18 years ago. Now, the club has gotten a shiny (literally) new remodel ahead of its grand reopening this weekend.
The club has been closed since August for a remodel that includes a glitzy, chrome- and gold-drenched look, custom audio and lighting tech designed and engineered exclusively for XS. The new space is outfitted with a bespoke constellation of 1,200 moving pendants that exist within an overhead installation, making the architecture shift its appearance throughout the night.
This is XS’s first-ever remodel (although in 2015 it did debut $10 million worth of new lighting, sound effects and technology) and comes ahead of a reopening weekend (Nov. 5-8) with sets by Rüfüs du Sol, The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris and Diplo b2b Hugel. “The new XS is not a departure from its legacy. It’s the next chapter of it,” Michael Wood, the vp of creative at Wynn Design & Development, says in a statement. “We’re taking everything people remember about XS, the glamour, the fantasy, the sense of spectacle, and asking what those ideas mean for the next generation of nightlife.”
“XS has long been synonymous with the very best of Las Vegas nightlife, setting a standard for entertainment and energy,” adds Adam Norotsky, vice president of nightlife at Wynn Las Vegas. “With this reimagining, we saw an opportunity to build on that legacy and deliver even more of what guests love about XS, including a stage that regularly welcomes some of the most sought-after talent in the world. Our goal was to create an unforgettable night out, where world-class music, standout performances and a lively atmosphere come together for an experience guests will want to return to again and again. We look forward to welcoming them back.”
Encompassing 40,000 square feet, XS can host up to 1,840 guests in its indoor area and up to 3,121 guests with its outdoor areas. Upon opening in December 2008, the club became crucial in establishing Las Vegas as a new global destination for dance music, helping bring DJ fees to new heights and establishing DJs as a new type of superstar artist.
