Back in August, when preorders went up for the translucent green Xbox Series X | X25 Special Edition console, they sold out almost instantly. That was a bummer for longtime Xbox fans who wanted to get their hands on one of these limited-edition 25th-anniversary consoles. Now you have another chance, thanks to Amazon. Instead of doing preorders on a first-come-first-served basis, Amazon is letting anyone interested request an invite to buy this special-edition Xbox (you can request one here).
Xbox Series X - X25 Limited Edition Invite Request
Requesting an invite doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily end up being invited to buy a console. But it gives you a chance to be invited, which is better than nothing. As Amazon says, “If invited to purchase, you’ll get an email when the item is available. Not all requests will be granted.”
The console is meant to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Xbox. It’s set to release on November 13 and costs (the curiously specific price) $909.23. Only 25,000 numbered consoles are being manufactured, which explains the difficulty people have had securing a preorder.

So what do you get if you do end up buying it? You get a 1TB Xbox Series X console, decked out in translucent green. The front of the console has an X25 logo, and when you turn it on, the X logo glows green as well. You also get a matching controller (which is also sold separately, and is still available at some retailers). Finally, you get a digital copy of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the campaign from the original Halo (see our review).
XBOX Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition (Available Now)
Overall, this has been an extremely popular item among IGN readers. It’s a great-looking piece of hardware that celebrates 25 years since the original Xbox hit store shelves. If you want one, or even if you might be interested in one, there’s no reason not to request an invite.
