uMkhonto we Sizwe Party Deputy President Duduzane Zuma says the party remains confident it will win a majority in this year’s Local Government Elections (LGE).
He says the MKP is performing strongly on the IEC’s results dashboard, despite earlier court battles with the Electoral Commission.
Zuma was speaking to the media at the IEC’s national Results Operations Centre (ROC) in Midrand.
“At this point we’re quietly confident. We’re keeping the champagne on ice. We’re not celebrating it. There are some key areas where obviously people are happy that there’s a trend that’s looking like we’re getting to the right places in certain parts of the country. But it’s still too soon to call. We understand by this point the trend generally indicates where optimism is, and until the final whistle goes, we’ll keep it cool.
