The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in parts of KwaZulu-Natal for Friday.
Heavy rain, damaging winds, hail and lightning are expected, with possible localised flooding and damage to infrastructure.
The affected areas include uMlalazi, uMngeni, uMshwathi, uMvoti, KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Maphumulo, Mpofana, Ndwedwe, Okhahlamba and parts of the Inkosi Langalibalele and Mpofana local municipalities.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution and to avoid travelling across bridges or on roads prone to flooding.
