With 57% of voting districts counted in Gauteng, the Democratic Alliance (DA) continues to lead with 34% of the vote, followed by the African National Congress (ANC) on 21% and ActionSA on 17%.
Speaking at the Gauteng Electoral Commission (IEC) Results Operations Centre in Alberton, provincial manager for Electoral Operations, Nthabi Sipane says progress is being made with the capturing and auditing of results across the province
“Out of that, 3 997 have been completed, meaning the auditing has been completed and the results are actually ready. Now as expected Johannesburg is the lowest, in terms of completion of the results and of the three metros.”
“Midvaal is about to finish, they’re sitting at 98% completion of their results and Lesedi is at 99%, so any minute now Lesedi will be done and any minute now, Midvaal will be done. Gauteng is sitting at 50% of the voting districts captured, now we need to finalize. The Commission is planning to announce the results on Sunday, so our plan as the province is to complete by tomorrow latest.”
