The murder of United Democratic Movement (UDM) councillor Luxolo Namette in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in the Eastern Cape has left his family devastated.

Namette was a PR Councillor for the UDM. The party has just clinched three seats in the metro.

He was shot outside a barbershop in NU 9, Motherwell.

His father, Thembelani Namette, is finding it hard to come to terms with his death.

“These news have broken me into pieces. I received the call while I was in church. If it’s a person who did this, it’s fine. If it’s politics, it’s also fine. He was such a sweet person to anyone even if they are not his family. This is hard. He left his wife and kids.”
