Residents of Ikgomotseng in Soutpan in the Free State want a new councillor to prioritise service delivery.
The residents say they have been ignored and marginalised by the Mangaung metro municipality.
Although they are not yet sure which political party has won ward 44, they still highlighted their expectations.
One resident says, “We don’t have a police station in Ikgomotseng, so this place is small; it’s even filled up with young people coming and seeking stands. They can’t find space anymore for us. It shows that this place was never meant for us to stay here. Our houses, because this place is very salty, it was not checked before they put us here or we were put here for a purpose that’s why the houses are cracking.”
Another resident said, “As a youth, we deserve to have a farm or land. I voted, but I’m working at a construction site, why?”
