Jordan’s King Abdullah II said on Thursday that Israel must not be allowed to continue its attacks on Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, or violate the sovereignty of Arab states.

He made the remarks during talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the capital, Astana, according to a statement from the Jordanian Royal Court.

King Abdullah said the two countries agree that a two-state solution is the only way to achieve peace and stability in the region.

He stressed that Israel must not be allowed to continue its attacks on Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank, or its attempts to violate the sovereignty of Arab states.

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and put an end to the escalation, stressing that Jordan continues to work with its partners, including Kazakhstan, to achieve this goal.

His remarks come amid continued Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as well as violations of the sovereignty of Lebanon and Syria.

In Gaza, Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement, which has been in force since 10 October 2025, following a war of genocide it launched in October 2023. The war has left tens of thousands of people dead and injured and caused widespread destruction.

In the West Bank, Israeli army operations and settler violence continue, including killings, arrests, home demolitions and settlement expansion.

Israel is also continuing its attacks on Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024, while carrying out air strikes and incursions into Syrian territory.
