Western Cape police are investigating the shooting of a man in Strandfontein.
A man washing down his garage floor in Strandfontein had little warning before two gunmen jumped out of a car and opened fire, killing him and wounding two others in an attack captured on CCTV.
The footage shows four men gathered at a home in St Helena Close on Friday evening when a silver Volkswagen Golf 5 pulls up. The gunmen open fire before chasing the fleeing men and escaping in the vehicle.
The shooting, which claimed the life of a 31-year-old man, happened as the community was preparing for an open-air movie night nearby. Police are investigating a murder and two counts of attempted murder, while the local Community Policing Forum has urged residents not to spread unverified claims about gang involvement.

The man in the red top falls to the ground while gunmen chase the other three victims before running back to the car and taking off.

CPF warns against speculation
Strandfontein Community Policing Forum chairperson Sandy Schuter-Flowers said that the shooting occurred as the community was preparing for open-air movie night in the park, on the corner of Mulberry and Church Way.
News of the shooting spread online and Schuter-Flowers said speculation linking the shooting to gang activity was premature.
Schuter-Flowers said she responded to the scene where she assisted the victim “until the paramedics arrived”.
“The feeling of the community - it's mixed feelings. The reason for that is I’m appealing to the community of Strandfontein to refrain from posting unverified, inaccurate, and false information on the various social media platforms.
“It only causes upset, instils fear, and it frightens our community.
“I’m appealing to the community of Strandfontein to rather wait for verified, official confirmation from the CPF or the SAPS will give official - or through our ward councillor, where you will receive official communication as to what are the facts.”
