Whether you love cars or merely tolerate them as basic transportation, we can all admit that sports cars are cool. The best sports cars stimulate the senses, whether it’s the sound of a powerful engine or the scent of expensive leather. Sports cars make our lives better, and you'll be doing the world a service by buying one.
That's why we've gathered all the new sports cars on sale for 2027. Only two-door vehicles engineered and marketed by their manufacturers strictly for performance (and fun) are included in this list. We have lists for sporty sedans and SUVs, but not here. If you want the pinnacle of excitement from the world's most renowned car brands, read on.
Aston Martin
The grandest of all grand tourers come from Aston Martin. The DB12 and Vanquish aim for elegance with their clean, timeless designs, while the smaller Vantage is gorgeous all to itself. For a 1064-hp hypercar with polished road manners, consider a Valhalla.
Bentley
Bentley's brutish approach to sports cars is the same in 2027 as it was in 1927. The Continental GT is a heavyweight that can handle, as evidenced by the latest Supersports model. The plug-in hybrid models offer greater comfort, with up to 771 hp.
Since the Z4 roadster departed, BMW is without a true two-seat sports car. What's left are two hard-core M cars with small back seats: the M2 coupe and the M4 coupe and convertible. If you dislike BMW's latest Neue Klasse designs, these cars are Alt Klasse in the best ways.
Chevrolet
While the Camaro is on hiatus yet again, Chevy has four enticing Corvette variants ranging from supercar contender to million-dollar winner. They all undercut their European rivals on price, too. A new 6.7-liter V-8 is in for 2027, and it improves the performance of the lower-end Stingray and Grand Sport models considerably. America's sports car is at its absolute peak.
Ferrari
Although most mere mortals won’t ever be able to purchase one, the Ferrari hype is real. The company's expertise in electronic chassis control, plus the sheer brilliance of its six-, eight, and 12-cylinder engines, are the gold standards of the sports-car world. Ferrari deserves every love letter it gets.
Ford
Since 1964, there's been a Mustang for everyone, though in 2027, everyone who wants a V-8 Mustang better have at least $50K. Affordability aside, the Mustang matters. It's a classic sports car with the sound, fury, and the hardware to compete with the world's best—and that includes the $328,000 GTD.
Honda
We're not including Honda's heavy hitter, the Civic Type R, since it's a hatchback. For pure sports cars, the Prelude fills in with a pretty exterior, but it's effectively a Civic Hybrid coupe that starts at $44K.
Lamborghini
As the party animal of any sports car gathering, Lamborghini likes to play loud and could care less who it wakes up at 3 am. The Temerario revs to 10,000 rpm and kicks up tremendous amounts of debris from the exposed rear tires. The Revuelto SV has 1050 horsepower with doors that open skyward, as they should.
Lotus
Lotus has gone through many ups and downs over the years, but it gets one car right. The mid-engined Emira sports car is an analog machine with a dialed-in chassis, sultry styling, and the distinctive character you'd expect of a hand-built British car.
Maserati
Maserati's beautiful sports cars with their rich, decadent interiors and twin-turbo V-6 engines are often overlooked by wealthy buyers who would rather buy yet another black 911. For those with great taste and total confidence, the GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and the MCPura offer a distinctive alternative to the norm.
Mazda
The fundamentals of an excellent sports car start with an MX-5 Miata. It’s small and remarkably lightweight, which puts Mazda in a class of one for building a two-seat, rear-wheel drive, manual transmission roadster that costs under $40K. It can also be had with a power targa roof in the RF (Retractable Fastback) model.
McLaren
McLaren is re-doing its logo, but fear not: the cars are the same technical masterpieces that feel like sports cars of old. Whether it's the plug-in hybrid Artura, the roomy GTS, or the race-ready 750S, a McLaren delivers raw excitement with expert control.
Mercedes-AMG
AMG’s high-performance models are known for being hot, fast, loud, and desirable. The widebody CLE53 coupe and convertible, the iconic SL roadster, and the slick GT Coupe are the Benzes we really want.
Mercedes-Maybach
Maybach glitzes up and quiets down the AMG SL for a plusher convertible with the coveted Mercedes hood ornament. But rest assured, an SL680 in Maybach form is ready to rip when asked.
Nissan
An oldie and very much a goodie, the Z is a sports car legend with an illustrious history. The current model features classic lines and a manual transmissions, and you’re unlikely to see another one like it in the neighborhood. Sign us up.
Porsche
The daddy of all sports cars, Porsche is the first and last name for engineering perfection. Without a 718 Boxster or Cayman for 2027, it's the 911's job to keep the brand's heritage in full swing across its dozens of variants. It's fantastic almost to a fault, as so many people buy them that they start seem ordinary.
Subaru
As the only gas-powered rear-wheel-drive car in Subaru's lineup, the BRZ is an elemental sports car that, like a Mazda MX-5 Miata, is a great teacher of driving skill. It's basic, relatively cheap, and always fun.
Toyota
Toyota was the mastermind behind the partnership that bore the original Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. With the latest GR86, Toyota's essence of simplified, driver-focused engineering is on full display, especially now that the Supra has departed.
