Kia-updated-EV5-spotted

Kia’s Sportage-sized electric SUV, the EV5, was spotted with a distinct new style and an overhauled interior, including a huge widescreen infotainment screen.

Is Kia updating the EV5 SUV?

The EV5 is the fully electric SUV we want, but can’t have in the US. After launching it in China in 2023, Kia introduced the global version last year, which is now on sale in Europe, Canada, the UK, and other markets.

It has already been a big part of Kia’s comeback in China and is expected to become one of its best-selling EVs.

Kia appears to be preparing an updated version. A new EV5 model was recently spotted by ShortsCar in a South Korean parking garage without camouflage, and it’s expected to be the updated version.

You can see in the video that the design has changed quite a bit. Up front, the hood and headlights remain about the same, but new design elements like a black accent light are added.

It also features a unique bumper design, similar to that of the rugged EV5 WKNDR Concept Kia revealed last November at the Guangzhou Motor Show.

The biggest changes are inside, where the interior appears to be completely overhauled. Instead of the current large display screen spanning from the driver to the center, the new EV5 features a display that extends from the center to the passenger side.

There also appears to be an added slim display in front of the steering wheel. Since Hyundai has recently added a slim display to vehicles equipped with its Pleos infotainment system, the updated Kia EV5 is expected to feature the new setup.

However, this is still speculation and has not been confirmed. The center console has also changed. Instead of the physical buttons, it now has a cover, giving it a cleaner overall look.

According to a sticker on the back, the updated EV5 is set to launch in the Philippines. Given Kia initially launched the EV5 in China in 2023, it will be due for a facelift around 2027.

Kia has yet to confirm whether and when it will launch the updated EV5 in other global markets, such as Europe or Korea. It will likely arrive after the China-made version, like the current EV5. We should learn more details soon.
