The African National Congress (ANC) says it will not scapegoat the IEC, whatever the outcome of the 2026 local government elections.
According to the Centre for Scientific Research, the party is predicted to be the leading party by a small margin, getting just under 32% of the vote.
It is predicted to be followed by the DA with just under 26 per cent, the MK at around 9 per cent and the EFF at 6%.
ANC National Chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, was speaking at the IEC’s National Results Operations Centre said, “I said they talk of a record number of parties that are registered with the IEC that competed in these elections including local based parties that are competing for the space allow that to happen if you resent that you are going to be destructive in the elections that is why I said one of the worst things that you can do as the ANC is to discredit the IEC we are not going to do that whether we like the result of not we still keep the integrity of the IEC intact we are not going to dent it”
