“At night, the enemy attacked an oil and gas facility of the Naftogaz Group in the central part of Ukraine three times. As a result of the attack, equipment was damaged, an explosion occurred on site, and a large-scale fire broke out,” Fedorenko stated in an official dispatch reported by state news agency Ukrinform.

Fedorenko confirmed that facility personnel were evacuated to shelters in advance of the impacts, averting injuries among workers.

“Employees were not injured; personnel were evacuated in time,” he said, expressing gratitude to units from the State Emergency Service (DSNS) and company specialists for containing the emergency.

Technical specialists are conducting comprehensive damage assessments across the impacted operational units to evaluate structural degradation and restore damaged systems.

Overnight barrage

The triple strike on the Naftogaz installation formed part of a coordinated overnight assault targeting Ukrainian energy and civil utility networks across the country.

Russian forces fired 36 ballistic missiles and 172 strike drones overnight into Nov. 7, aiming all 36 ballistic missiles directly at the capital and the Kyiv region, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday.

Zelensky said the concentrated barrage targeted high-voltage transmission substations in the Kyiv region connecting the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants to the capital and central Ukraine.

The combined attack wounded nine civilians, including one child, across the capital and surrounding districts, damaging residential blocks, striking the North Bridge over the Dnipro River, and partially destroying a municipal kindergarten in the Solomianskyi district.

Beyond the Kyiv region, adversary strikes damaged electrical substations and energy infrastructure across six additional provinces, including Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk, leaving municipal services in the capital and regional centers managing interruptions to power, running water, and central heating supplies.

Civilian areas targeted in Sumy

The overnight attacks on energy infrastructure followed Russian tactical airstrikes on the northeastern city of Sumy on Friday, Nov. 6, where aircraft dropped six guided aerial bombs (KABs) across four separate impact locations.

The strikes wounded seven civilians across the Zarichnyi and Kovpakivskyi urban districts.

Emergency services hospitalized four victims aged 41, 56, 69, and 90, while three other individuals received outpatient care for blast injuries.

The bombardment in Sumy damaged more than 15 private and multi-story apartment buildings, alongside localized interruptions to municipal natural gas distribution networks and electrical lines.
